On July 31, the Ministry of Culture Taiwan and OISTAT signed a new agreement to subsidize OISTAT Headquarters in Taipei until 2020. More than 70 prominent theatre representatives from Taiwan witnessed the signing ceremony held in Taipei with Louis Janssen, OISTAT President, and Hung Meng-Chi, Minister of Culture (Taiwan).

The Headquarters has migrated since its founding: 1968-1993 in Prague, Czech Republic, 1993-2005 in the Netherlands and since 2006 in Taipei, Taiwan. With support from Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture, Minister Hung Meng-Chi and OISTAT President Louis Janssen made public announcement that the Headquarters will continue to stay in Taiwan for another five years. World Stage Design 2017 will also be held in Taipei

“We greatly appreciate the wide network OISTAT has brought to our theatre community, and we look forward to the next 5 years, or even 10 years of continuous collaboration with OISTAT,” stated Minister Hung Meng-Chi. Louis Janssen thanked the Ministry of Culture and the theatre community for support, “10, very productive and inspiring, years. We were able to organize many events and activities, all over the world and here in Taiwan. It would not have been possible without the support of the Council of Cultural affairs and the Ministry of Culture.”
