OISTAT Adjudication Policy

May 10, 2018

11-14-17

The following is the official policy of OISTAT regarding all adjudication of OISTAT sponsored awards, projects, and events. This statement will be clearly featured on the OISTAT website and provided in any official instructions to adjudicators, nominators and nominees.

As a part of fulfilling OISTAT’s mission, OISTAT frequently is asked to sponsor and/or endorse member Centre, member institutions, and individual member sponsored events/projects that curate’s awards and exhibitions, bestows honors, and selects participants in competitive programming that can involve the evaluation of the work of its members.

In order for member Centre’s, member institutions, and individual members to use the OISTAT logo in press releases and promotional material, or to advertise an event/project as OISTAT sponsored and/or endorsed, the following applies:

An abstract of the proposed event must be submitted to the GB for review and approval.
The GB will forward their recommendation to the EC for review.

If the event/project is approved, and if the event/project includes the adjudication and/or curation of material and/or work, all parties agree to follow and adhere to the following statement:

All organizers must avoid the possibility of favoritism and other perceived inequities that will diminish the credibility of the award or event/project. Adjudicators and respondents must recuse themselves whenever a conflict or perceived conflict is present, and applicants should provide blind entries whenever possible. The curatorial process must be transparent; including rubrics and written feedback that is available upon request.
