The Theatres of Latin America is a project of the OISTAT Spain Centre supported by OISTAT, the Ministry of Culture of Taiwan and the Institute of Arts and Theatre of Prague. It studies the development of theatrical spaces in Latin America between the pre-Columbian period and the twenty-first century. It is an indissociable historical and architectural register which gathers from plans, drawings and photographs, the most significant theatrical buildings and performance spaces of the continent. It is a virtual and live archive.
Its main objectives are to preserve, protect and promote the cultural heritage of Latin American countries and to expand their knowledge in the world. To reveal both the influences of Spain and Portugal in the development of theatrical spaces in Latin America and the repercussions of Latin American influence on the European continent.
TTLA-TELA is the most important and ambitious project undertaken by OISTAT in Latin America.
To date it counts with 55 researchers from Universities and Institutions in 14 countries. It is an unpublished study in the area. It will be a turning point in the diffusion of the knowledge of the performance spaces of Latin America to the world.

Los Teatros de América Latina es un proyecto del Centro OISTAT España apoyado por OISTAT, el Ministerio de Cultura de Taiwán y el Instituto de las Artes y el Teatro de Praga. Estudia el desarrollo de los espacios teatrales en América Latina entre el período precolombino y el siglo XXI. Es un registro histórico y arquitectónico indisociable que reúne a partir de planos, dibujos y fotografías, los edificios teatrales y espacios de representación más significativos del continente. Es un archivo virtual y vivo.
Sus objetivos principales son preservar, proteger y promover el patrimonio cultural de los países latinoamericanos y expandir su conocimiento en el mundo. Revelar tanto las influencias de España y Portugal en el desarrollo de los espacios teatrales en América Latina como las repercusiones de influencia latinoamericana en el continente europeo.
TTLA-TELA es el proyecto más importante y ambicioso emprendido por OISTAT en América Latina.
Cuenta hasta hoy, con 55 investigadores de Universidades e Instituciones en 14 países. Es un estudio inédito en el área. Será un punto inflexión en la difusión del conocimiento de los espacios de representación de América Latina al mundo.
