World Stage Design

World Stage Design (WSD)

Aug 2, 2011

World Stage Design is an international exhibition of contemporary scenography – the stage, costume, lighting, and sound design. Different from the nation-based exhibition of performance design at the Prague Quadrennial (PQ), WSD is a designer-focused international exhibition, in which the exhibits are submitted by individual designers from around the world.

The exhibition is co-organized by OISTAT and an OISTAT Centre every four years on different continents. In the first WSD (Toronto, 2005), 532 designers from 43 countries participated in the gallery and digital exhibition.

In 2009, the second WSD was hosted by the Korean Centre of OISTAT, KTAA, which attracted 247 designers from 26 countries to participate in the event. The third WSD will be held in 2013 at The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD) in  Cardiff, Wales, U.K.
