Dear members of OISTAT, dear friends!
Coming June, during PQ 2019, we hopefully will meet at the “OISTAT Forum: The Next 50 Years”, which will be held on June 13th in the Studio ALTA across the square from Výstavistê, where PQ will take place.
A component of this Forum will be the OISTAT Small Congress. Alternating with our regular quadrennial Congress during World Stage Design, we will just have a modest congress in Prague as a part of our activities that day, but it is an official part for doing necessary formal business.
One topic on the agenda will be voting on a proposed adjustment of our Statutes. This message is to notify you within time that voting will take place at the Small Congress. The proposed changes in the statutes concern the maximum number of terms that a person can serve as President, EC-member and/or Chair of a (Sub-)Commission, or in a combination of those. The EC suggests the reduction of the number of terms to be in a leading position within OISTAT, aiming to enable a good flow of leadership.
Attached to this email you will find the proposed new statutes (Clean version, Changes highlighted version), but the articles concerning the matters the EC would like to have a vote upon are:
Article XII
THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
6. An EC member may be re-elected once. The total number of terms for two positions, be it member of the EC, President or Chair of a (Sub-)Commission is three terms maximum. In case the combination is between all 3 positions of member of the EC, President and Chair of a (Sub-)Commission, the total number of terms is 4 terms maximum.
Article XIII
THE PRESIDENT
2. A president in office may be re-elected once. The total number of terms for two positions, be it President, member of the EC, or Chair of a (Sub-)Commission is three terms maximum. In case the combination is between all 3 positions of President, member of the EC, and Chair of a (Sub-)Commission, the total number of terms is 4 terms maximum. After the expiration of the final term of office, he/she can continue to advise the EC as a non-voting ex-officio member of the EC for two years.
Article XV
COMMISSIONS AND SUB-COMMISSIONS
10. The Chair and Vice Chair are elected by the voting delegates on that Commission for a period of four years. A Chair of a Commission can be re-elected once. The total number of terms for two positions, be it Chair of a (Sub-)Commission, member of the EC or President is three terms maximum. In case the combination is between all 3 positions of Chair of a (Sub-)Commission, EC-member and President, the total number of terms is 4 terms maximum. The procedure for the election of the Chair is governed by the Election Rules (see Appendix 2).
