It is with great grief we heard about the passing away of Henk van der Geest.
OISTAT President Bert Determann writes:
The saddening news reached us that Henk van der Geest has passed away. A very dear OISTAT friend and important contributor to OISTAT events has died - way too soon. As a fellow countryman I knew his work from close by and have had the privilege to have worked together with him, as in 2009 he stepped down as my predecessor in the Executive Committee. Henk was an important inspirator to a lot of people, not in the least young people, who he inspired with his numerous workshops, sharing his views and experiences as Lightdesinger with a particular open view to his profession. He will be missed dearly.
First reactions from EC colleagues:
Marina Raytchinova: I always enjoyed when Henk attended the meetings of EduCom. He was a valuable member of our Scenofest team as well. His calm smile, the talks about light in paintings, the beautiful lightscapes he shared. Will be missed...
Ivo Kersmaekers: Although not a surprise, this news is still a shock. What a nice friend, artist and most important sharer to lose. I will miss him a lot.
Kevin Rigdon: While I didn’t know Henk for a long time, the time that we shared together was memorable. I will miss his generous and thoughtful approach to life and light.
Sean Crowley: Henk along with Steve Brown and Peter Matesek were such a vital part of a team that gave so much to so many. Words cannot express the appreciation and love that we have for him...
