II Latin American Meeting of Performing Arts｜R(E)MEETING: Recovering Our Spaces

OISTAT Spain organizes and invites you to the Second Latin American Meeting to be held on June 14 at the OISTAT HUB in Vila Štvanice during the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space 2023.

Our Latin American Meetings have, as main objective: to create an instance in which the views, particularities, projects and creative works of young Latin American and European stage designers can be exchanged with the OISTAT International community.

We promote a rapprochement between the different generations of creators from the areas of Latin American and European Performing Arts in order to expand networks between continents.

We have defined as the curatorial theme: The remeeting and recovery of our spaces. This will be the axis that we will develop in each of the activities

First, due to the vital need to meet again among peers to share the particularities of our communities. And second, due to the urgency of recovering, in a broader sense, not only our spaces, but also our places of creation, of dialogues between artistic communities, to advance together, in the evolution of our trades, always connected with the audiences and the identity of our cities.

We also seek to develop in this practical exercise of remeeting and reflection, the enhancement of recovered spaces: abandoned theatrical buildings, restored and protected as heritage in their cities, as well as numerous and particular examples in Latin America of non-theatrical buildings or spaces. abandoned such as factories, customs, former prisons, casinos, among others, which have become spaces dedicated to the Performing Arts.

This II Meeting will open spaces for dialogue and exchange of ideas at conversation tables between Associations, Institutions, Collectives and the OISTAT Community to respond to common and current issues.
