With great sadness and sorrow, we announce the passing of the Egyptian Costume and Set Designer Mrs. Naiema Agamy (1948-2021). She was sick and passed away on Monday morning 27 December 2021 at the hospital.
Naiema was a very active OISTAT member especially with the Costume Sub-commission. She participated in many international design events, like the PQ (in 2015 and 2019), in Egyptian stage design exhibitions (in 2012, 2014, 2018 and 2021) and in many other exhibitions and meetings.
Naiema graduated from the Egyptian Fine Art college in 1971. She worked mainly at the Egyptian government theatres. She designed costumes and/or sets for more than 60 main theatre productions; seven of her designs were for the Egyptian National Theatre.
Naiema received three times the Best Costume Design award at the National Festival for the Egyptian theatre productions.
Naiema will be missed and will always be remembered as a very creative theatre artist.
