Travis is an Assistant Professor in Theatre Production at MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada as well as a member of the Associated Designers of Canada primarily as a Lighting Designer. Travis began to formally teach and supervise theatre students in 2012 and has been fortunate to teach at three different universities before coming to MacEwan, having taught at the University of Windsor, Thompson Rivers University and at the University of Calgary.
For the past two decades, Travis has been working professionally as a designer, technician and educator in a variety of areas within theatre, including sound, lighting, set, costume, projection, technical direction and production management. Over the course of his career, he has worked as production manager, technical director, head of lighting, head of sound, head carpenter, head of props and has worked on running crews, in stage management and as a board operator or live sound mix technician.
Although relatively new to the international scene and OISTAT, Travis is excited to have been elected as the Chair of the Lighting Design Sub-commission and can’t wait to dive into helping organize events and activities that help to bring members from across the world together to discuss and exercise the joys of creating theatre.
