OISTAT Seed Volunteer program:
Call for volunteers of OISTAT Headquarters during World Stage Design 2017


Cultivating your leadership skills through international exhibitions, festivals and meetings 
Unique opportunity to meet up with theatre professionals from all over the world

 

OISTAT Seed Volunteer program provides a valuable experience for students and young professionals to broaden their global perspectives and to cultivate their leadership through OISTAT events. It is a perfect match for international students in Taiwan who are interested in theatre, NGO management and cultural diplomacy. 
 
In 2017, OISTAT major projects—World Stage Design, Scenofest, Theatre Architecture Competition and Technical Invention Prize—will take place in conjunction with OISTAT World Congress in Taipei, Taiwan. Theatre professionals from more than 35 countries will gather in Taipei to celebrate design, technology and architecture in theatre. OISTAT Headquarters is now calling for Seed Volunteers to facilitate Theatre Architecture Competition, Technical Invention Prize, OISTAT World Congress and OISTAT commission meetings.  
 
OISTAT
OISTAT stands for “Organisation Internationale des Scénographes, Techniciens et Architectes de Théâtre” in French, and “International Organisation of Scenographers, Theatre Architects and Technicians” in English. It is a worldwide organization for scenographers, theatre architects, theatre educators and theatre technicians. 
 
OISTAT promotes worldwide exchange of ideas and innovations, encourages lifelong learning among live performance practitioners, and dedicates itself to foster international collaborations. OISTAT respects the integrity of all cultures and celebrates the similarities and the diversity of those who work in support of live performance.
 
OISTAT Headquarters 
OISTAT Headquarters relocated from Amsterdam, the Netherlands to Taipei, Taiwan in 2006. HQ is the administrative centre of this global organization. HQ’s responsibilities include strategy planning, global membership management, financial management and coordination of international projects and meetings. 
 
OISTAT Seed Volunteers are those: 
Passionate about cultural exchange 
Interested in international organization and international projects in theatre
Fluent in English. Basic Mandarin or knowledge to other languages is a plus. 
Seed Volunteers will be assigned to following groups: 

Group Description Requirements Learning Outcomes
Exhibition Guiding Theatre Architecture Competition and Technical Invention Prize exhibitions. Assist on-site set up and dismantle of those exhibitions.  Fluent English communication skills, backgrounds in theatre technical filed or architecture Communicate effectively in a professional environment through answering questions and having conversation with participants on site
Media Documenting important moments of OISTAT events  English communication and photography skills, experiences in public relations with media The ability of capturing key moments of a complex event with professionalism and aesthetics qualities
Reception Assist the running of commissions meetings, coordinating space and site, renting equipment and World Congress registration English communication skills and good coordination skills Adapt quickly to a rapidly changing circumstances and better ability to work independently
Branding Assistant at OISTAT Booth, reaching out to potential members through introducing international events and projects  English communication skills and has sufficient knowledge on OISTAT  Respond confidently with foreigners and have deeper understanding towards the nature of an international organization

Accommodation
OISTAT Headquarters provides 12 nights of shared twin room for Seed Volunteers from June 28 to July 10.
 
What is the difference between OISTAT Seed Volunteers and WSD2017 Volunteers? 
Seed Volunteers are recruited and trained by OISTAT Headquarters. Seed Volunteers will be facilitating Theatre Architecture Competition, Technical Invention Prize, OISTAT World Congress and OISTAT commission meetings.
 
WSD2017 Volunteers are recruited and trained by the organizers of WSD2017: Taiwan Association of Theatre Technology and Taipei National University of the Arts to facilitate World Stage Design and Scenofest.

Please fill out the application form and send to OISTAT Headquarters weiping@oistat.org before April 28(Fri). 
 
Interviews will take place between May 2-5. The result will be announced on May 8(Mon).
