3rd –  7th November 2010, Beijing:
2010 OISTAT Education Commission Meeting and International Symposium on Stage Design Education
Hosted by China Central Academy of Drama

Topic:
“ Contemporary Design Education - Between National Tradition, Innovation and Globalization ”

Design education concepts and practices across the world in  the limelight of the changing picture of contemporary theatre.

How do growing globalization and interculturalism influence contemporary design education? Do we provide education that responds to the needs of the contemporary theatre practice?

In sharing the range of teaching approaches educators from cultures across the world will interrogate the definitions of national and local traditions in the context of growing international and intercultural collaboration in design education and theatre practice.

Arrival and registration day:
Wednesday November 3rd 2010

8:00-9:00 Breakfast (at the hotel)
9:00-9:15 Transportation to the Central Academy of Drama
9:30-09:45 Introduction speeches
By the hosts and the chair of EduCom
09:45-12:30 International Symposium “ Contemporary Design Education - Between National Tradition, Innovation and Globalization ”
  • Five presenters from China and from the OISTAT EduCom. Each presentation slot is 30 min.
  • Coffee Break at 10:45 - 11:00
12:30-13:30 Lunch
13:30-16:45 International Symposium “ Contemporary Design Education - Between National Tradition, Innovation and Globalization ”
  • Five presenters from China and from the OISTAT Edu Com. Each presentation slot is 30 min.
  • Coffee Break at 15:00 - 15:15
16:45-19:00 Free time
19:00- Dinner or Theatre performance
Working day II:
Friday November 5th
8:00-9:00 Breakfast (at the hotel)
9:00-9:15 Transportation to the Central Academy of Drama
9:30-12:00 Education Commission Bussines meeting –commission delegates and Chinese colleagues.
10:45-11:00 Coffee break
12:00-13:00 Lunch
13:00-15:30 Visit to the Forbidden City
16:00-18:00 Visit to the National Centre of Performing Arts
19:00- Dinner or theatre performance
Day III, Site seeing:
Saturday November 6th
8:00-9:00 Breakfast (at the hotel)
9:00 Site seeing tour to the Great Wall
19:00- Farewell dinner
Departure day:
Sunday, November 7th
Departure. Check out before 12:00.

Simultaneous translation will be provided during the presentations. Besides of the presentations, we also call for papers with 1500 words to be published on the brochure together with the presentations. Please submit the presentation and the paper before October 1st, 2010 on the e-mail address of sdqstagedesign@163.com, copy to marinaray@yahoo.com.

For official delegates invited by the hosts, the Central Academy of Drama will cover their accommodation, local transporation and  meals for the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th November.

Associate members, individual members and guests should pay for their accommodations (550RMB/day/room) and a participation fee of 1000RMB (approximately 100Euro) for local transportation, meals, tickets and materials.
