Prague Quadrennial 2015 symposium

Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space announces a call for proposals for a large gathering of artists and experts that is open for both people directly connected to the PQ 2015 event as well as for other scenographers, theorists and curators. This symposium is the launch to the last phase of intensive preparations for the Prague Quadrennial 2015.
This symposium aims to explore curation of scenography exhibitions and scenography events – their systems, processes, problems, and concepts. The intension is to explore curation of scenography as a strategy that needs to find new approach for every exhibition, a different language of storytelling, always presenting a specific scenographic project anew. The symposium will not only explore how to exhibit scenography but also how to exhibit with scenography. It will look into curating through space and design, and at space and design as curatorial tools. Scenography will not only be explored as something we display but as a dramaturgical agent of an exhibit, a tool for creating performative spaces, specific environments unfolding of the core idea of the scenographic project. Here the scenography curator is a storyteller, an editor, a dramaturge and, of course, a scenographer, but more than anything someone creating the dialogue between the stage and that what is absent.
Large portions of the symposium will be dedicated to detailed presentations of the concept of the Quadrennial and individual exhibitions and projects by the PQ ‘15 Artistic Team, as well as sessions for curators and teams of the Section of Countries and Regions and theStudent Section. We are also looking for proposals from participants not directly involved in the Quadrennial.

Deadline for summation of applications and registration of participation is January 31, 2014. You will be notified by February 15, 2014. Please send your proposal through our registration form at www.pq.cz. The proposal should include a max. 300 word abstract and a short bio.Practitioners should also include (max.) 2 images of their work, if applicable.
