Dear Colleagues,
I formally extend to you our invitation to attend the 2014 meeting of the Technology Commission in Shanghai, PR China. The major theme of the meeting is: “Theater Technology Education and Curriculum”
Over five days the venues of the Shanghai Theater Academy will provide an excellent forum for the exchange of ideas on how best to train people to be good and effective theater technicians.
Certain Technology Commission members as well as representatives from China will make formal presentations on the topic "Theater Technology Education and Curriculum" as part of the Theatre Technology Symposium. Simultaneous translation will be provided.
The Symposium Presenters are required to prepare written papers (max 1500 words and presentation (max.20 min.) on the theme outlined above. Please submit proposals to Ivo Kersmaekers as soon as possible, and papers for presentations before February 1st, 2014 to Vanessa_Chenzi Xu <nownowxu@hotmail.com>, copy Ivo Kersmaekers <Ivo.Kersmaekers@showtex.com>, Technology Commission Chair. All papers will be published in a book for the meeting, each paper should be preceded by the presenter’s CV (1 paragraph to ½ page in length) and a head shot picture. Please submit your CV and headshot photograph along with your presentation paper before February 1st.
The Commission business session will include organizational issues concerning the current and future initiatives of the Commission as well as reports and plans for the future.
According to the normal OISTAT practice, delegates are responsible for their own travel arrangements. Meals and accommodation for up to four nights (April 9 - 12) will be arranged and covered by the hosts for one official delegate from each OISTAT Centre.
Associate members, individual members and guests are welcome to attend at their own costs: accommodations (550RMB/day/room) and a participation fee of 250 RMB (approximately 30 Euro) for local transportation, meals, tickets and materials.
April 9 is the arrival day with activities scheduled on April 10 and April 11. April 12 will be a day for local cultural activities and April 13 departure day. All interested in attending should fill out the registration form attached to this letter. Please return the form electronically to Vanessa_Chenzi Xu <nownowxu@hotmail.com>, no later than February 1st, copy to the Commission Chair copy Ivo Kersmaekers <Ivo.Kersmaekers@showtex.com> and to OISTAT Headquarters <headquarters@oistat.org>.
