As we step into a new year, OISTAT HQ extends our warmest wishes to our global theatre community and hopes 2026 has started on an inspiring note for you. Beginning this year, the OISTAT’s bi-monthly Newsletter will be released in February, April, June, August, October, and December. We warmly invite you to share open calls, upcoming events, and the latest news from your organization with the OISTAT Headquarters, so we can continue to connect and amplify voices across our network. The 7th edition of World Stage Design (WSD), OISTAT’s quadrennial festival, will take place in Berlin, Germany, in May/June 2029. Hosted by the Deutsche Theatertechnische Gesellschaft (DTHG), the OISTAT German Centre, WSD 2029 will be held in conjunction with SHOWTECH, bringing international perspectives on theatre design, architecture, and technology, while continuing to serve as a key platform for exchange and collaboration within the global theatre community.

OISTAT’s USA Centre, USITT, will host its 66th Annual Conference and Stage Expo from March 18 to 21, 2026, in Long Beach, California. This four-day event brings together theatre professionals and students from across the live entertainment industry, offering opportunities for exchange through educational sessions, workshops, talks, and the Stage Expo. The Bucharest Scenography Biennale celebrates and explores the creative processes behind scenography. Organized by the Romanian OISTAT Centre, the 2026 edition will take place from June 26 to July 5 and invites professional practitioners, emerging artists, and students to submit their work for the international exhibition. Canada’s leading entertainment technology event, EXPO-SCÈNE 2026, will take place this April in Montréal. Hosted by OISTAT’s Canadian Centre, CITT/ICTS, the event brings together theatre professionals to connect with industry leaders and explore the latest innovations, technologies, and practices in live performance. MEET 2026 is an international trade fair for event technology and a conference dedicated to theatre and live events. Hosted by OISTAT Austrian Centre, the Austrian Theatre Technology Society (OETHG), MEET brings together more than 80 exhibitors and showcases the intersection of technology and art.
